Welcome to the Funny Farm…

Welcome to the farm! At the present time, it feels more like the “funny farm”, but generally we deal primarily in horses more than lunacy. Nowadays, it’s lunacy, horses, and hand sanitizer, but I suppose there are worse things upon which to build an empire.

Can I just express what a delight it is – and how incredibly auspicious it feels – to know my first post on our brand-new, upgraded website is to be commemorated by a *&#%*@# pandemic?

From now until the end of time, I’ll always be able to handily recall what all of us would sooner prefer to forget, which is lovely. Every April henceforth shall forever be my Coronaversary, so that’s pretty special.

On that note, I do hope everyone is well and practicing their social distancing like good boys and girls. Proper hygiene is a wonderful thing, now and always. I think we’ve all scratched our heads quizzically and wondered over the last few weeks whether a large portion of our population was somehow foregoing handwashing and other basic hygiene rituals prior to the Coronapocalypse, so widespread have the “You’ve been washing your hands all wrong” memes and articles been.

Now for some actual, concrete news and updates: first things first, please take a look around the new website and gawk at what we’ve done. The whole aim of this makeover was to make life a bit easier on us all – online lesson scheduling and payment capabilities mean less hassle for me and my students! It’s also a great, improved way for us to all stay in touch, share news, and have questions answered. (Is cereal actually soup? Does a platypus cry? What kind of automobile drivers would horses be if they had opposable thumbs and a license?) (Note: Please do not send me these kinds of questions. These are MY questions and I need the answers.)

If at any time you do have questions pertaining to the website, lessons, or the farm, however, feel free to reach out to me either by phone at: 910-728-0012 or e-mail here.

There are lots of fun and educational classes coming in the near future when we’re allowed to leave our houses again. Some will be on the ground and some will be in the saddle, but regardless of whether you’re standing or sitting, you’ll learn a lot and have a blast doing it!

One developing new opportunity we’re excited to begin offering is the ability for me to teach remotely! This opens up an entirely new teaching avenue for us here and we’re really eager to give it a go. I can now take students from all over the world, provided they have the appropriate equipment, which I discuss here. Whether you’re a current student of mine who moves away and still wishes to take lessons with me or a new student who likes the idea of being able to ride under an instructor from the comfort of wherever you are, I can now connect with you and provide instruction.

In other news, we have 1 new stall available! If you’re looking for a fantastic barn family with a knowledgeable coach who keeps any and all drama at bay, we’re your people. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned rider, or you want to put a horse in training and/or have it competed, we can accommodate. Please contact Shaunna at 910-728-0012 or e-mail here for more information.

AS ALWAYS, WE DO NOT OFFER GUIDED TRAIL RIDES OR RENT OUT OUR HORSES. This is not a tuxedo shop or the airport car rental facility. Our horses are our family and our livelihood, and we only allow current students to ride them. When we clear a student for trail-riding, they’re welcome to avail themselves of the trails we have around the property.

That’s all for now. I anticipate generating at least weekly postings and updates, and encourage everyone to follow us on social media, too. You can find us on Facebook here and on Pinterest here

Yours in Quarantined, Lunatic Solidarity,

Shaunna
